CM Punk gives update on injury, expects to be cleared soon

CM Punk is close to returning to a WWE ring.
One of the most polarizing wrestling stars of this generation made his grand return to WWE in November but he suffered a major setback when he suffered a torn right triceps at the Royal Rumble in 2024.
While he has been unable to compete, Punk has done sporadic appearances in WWE, including trading barbs with Drew McIntyre and costing him the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40. Punk added another layer to the rivalry when he spoiled McIntyre's chance to win the title again in front of his home country of Scotland at Clash at the Castle when he impersonated a referee.
Punk previously said it would be a six to eight month recovery timeline, meaning he could be cleared to compete at any point in the near future. At the Clash at the Castle press conference, he said he is just a few days away from being told he's good to go.
"I can tell you that my arm feels amazing," Punk said. "I got permission to skip Raw in Corpus Christi to go home to Chicago to see my doctors with the idea that I'm going to be cleared.
"I'm going to skip Raw, I'm going to get cleared and then I'm going to show up the Smackdown and let everybody know the good news, hopefully."
Punk referenced the WWE schedule for next week, meaning he is expected to announce his clearance on Friday, June 21, in front of his hometown. When he does return, it is expected it will lead to a match with McIntyre given their rivalry can now have a match.
He shared his plan to ruin McIntyre's goal of winning another world title.
"He's never going to ever be a champion here as long as I live. Not as long as we're on the same brand. Not as long as we're in the same company. As long as there's air in my lungs," Punk said. "I promise him he's never going to be a champion ever again."
