A pair of recent basketball champions will be on the cover of the next NBA 2K.
Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Las Vegas Aces forward A'ja Wilson are the cover stars of NBA 2K25, it was announced Wednesday. The game will be released Sept. 6th.
Tatum is the cover star of the standard edition of the game, and the two champions are on the cover of the the All-Star edition. With Wilson on the deluxe edition, it marks the first time a WNBA player will be on a global edition of the video game franchise, just another notch in the growth of women's basketball.
"Being featured on the NBA 2K25 cover is a big moment for me and a testament to the ever-growing fandom of the WNBA," Wilson said in a statement. "Seeing more and more WNBA athletes scanned into NBA 2K25 to best capture the style and confidence of the league has been empowering, and I can't wait for fans to experience it in-game."
It's been a remarkable past year for both Tatum and Wilson. Tatum was a leader on the Celtics team that beat the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals to win the franchise's record 18th league championship. He also just signed an extension that is the largest contract in NBA history.
Wilson led the Las Vegas Aces to a remarkable 34-6 regular-season record in 2023 en route to back-to-back WNBA titles. She was also named the 2023 WNBA Finals Most Valuable Player. Wilson is also off to a great start to the 2024 WNBA season, leading the league in points (27.0) and blocks (2.7) per game, while her 10.9 rebounds per game are second in the league behind Angel Reese.
NBA 2K25 covers
In addition to the All-Star edition, Wilson will be the cover star on the WNBA edition, which is a GameStop exclusive physical edition only available in the U.S. and Canada.
There will also be a NBA 2K25 Hall of Fame edition that will feature 2024 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Vince Carter.
How much will NBA 2K25 cost?
The game will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. Here's how much each edition costs:
- Standard edition: $69.99 ($59.99 for Nintendo Switch)
- WNBA edition: $69.99 (only available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S)
- All-Star Edition: $99.99
- Hall of Fame Edition: $149.99
