BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) — A Florida sheriff’s deputy was shot and is in stable condition, authorities said Friday morning.
The deputy was shot in the arm during an encounter with a suspect, who is in custody, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Other details were not immediately released.
Sheriff Rick Wells planned to release more information at a news conference later in the day, the sheriff’s office said.
Manatee County is on the west coast of Florida and is home to Bradenton.
